CHERYL ANN KIRK

Cheryl Ann Kirk, 54, of 99 Anson Street, New Martinsville, WV lost her battle to cancer Friday, December 29, 2006 in West Virginia University Hospital in Morgantown, WV.

She was born April 5, 1952 in New Martinsville, WV, the daughter of George "Bud" and Pauline Kirk of New Martinsville.

Cheryl was a graduate of Magnolia High School and earned her Bachelor's of Science degree in journalism from Abilene Christian University in Abilene, Texas.

She was employed by the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources for 30 years. She started out working in adoption and helped several abused and neglected children. In 2002, she became a trainer for DHHR and traveled across the State of West Virginia training DHHR employees on computers and PDAs.

Cheryl was an active member of the Proctor Church of Christ and was a bible school teacher.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by two brothers, Rusty (Jo) Kirk of New Martinsville, and Mark Kirk of Dallas, Texas; a niece Jessica (Gary) Kirk Voorhis; a nephew, Paul Kirk; a great-niece, Haley Voorhis; a great-nephew Isaac Voorhis, all of New Martinsville; and special friends, Jerry Yoho, Brian Dulaney, and Susan Moore.

Friends may call at the Grisell Funeral Home and Crematory, 751, Third Street, New Martinsville from 2-4 &7-9 PM Tuesday (January 2, 2007). Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 1:00 PM Wednesday (January 3, 2007) with the Evangelist Ed Melott officiating. Interment will follow in the Northview Cemetery, New Martinsville, WV.

The Tennant Funeral Home in Hundred, WV is in charge of arrangements.
