CAROLYN E. HOSTUTLER

Carolyn Elizabeth Hostutler, 70, of Hundred, peacefully passed away on Friday, August 29, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her devoted husband and three children, as she went to be with her Lord.  Carolyn was a woman full of life—passionate about the things she loved and never missing and opportunity to dance or sing.  She also cherished the simple joys of the outdoors, often riding her bike or walking the trails with her dear friends, where laughter and companionship made every step and mile more special.  She loved her family, and community deeply.  Throughout her life, she served in many local council positions in Hundred, West Virginia, dedicating her time and energy to the place she called home.

Professionally, she worked as both a nurse and an educator for many years, caring for hundreds of patients and children with compassion and kindness.  Faith was at the heart of Carolyn’s life.  She was a devoted member of the Hundred Church of Christ, Hundred, West Virginia where she faithfully attended alongside her husband and beloved church family.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, James “Jim” and Agnes Smith; her younger brother, Charles “Charlie” Smith; her father-in-law, and mother-in-law, William “Bill” and Doris Jean Hostutler.

She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Gregory Hostutler; her three children, William Hostutler, Ashley (J.J.) Davis, and Aaron (Morgan) Hostutler; her cherished grandchildren, Annelise, Asia, Isaac, Noah, Vada, Violet, Asher, and baby Jude. She is also survived by her brother, James “Jimmy” (Peggy) Smith; her niece, Danielle; her brother and sister-in-law, Nancy (Randy) Casto; her nephew Benjamin; her lifelong friends, Sam and Karen Longwell, Bonnie McGlumphy and the late Jim McGlumphy, and Mike and Pam Ray.

The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to Carolyn’s home nurses, Annette Goodrich and Ashley Hess; the many wonderful WV Caring (hospice) staff and nurses; and her caring neighbors, Karen and Sam Longwell, for their support, love, and help during her battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Friends may call at the Tennant Funeral Home, 2678 Hornet Highway, Hundred, WV from 4:00 to 8:00 PM on Monday, September 1, 2025.  Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11:00 AM Tuesday with Evangelist Steve Stevens and Pastor J.
