JAMES M. McGLUMPHY

James Michael (Jim) McGlumphy, beloved husband, dad and pappy died peacefully in his home on April 12, 2022 with his family by his side at the age of 66.

Jim is survived by his wife of 46 years, Bonnie Sue (Felton) McGlumphy; his 4 children, Holly Radabaugh (Shawn), Matt McGlumphy, (Crystal), Jessica Mace (Jason) and Joe McGlumphy; 8 grandchildren, Tristan, Maxwell, Ashley, Korbyn, Jolyn, Emma, Aeron, and Aliyah; and three great-grandchildren, Odin, Sida, and Asden.  He is also survived by three siblings, Karen Smith (Mel), William McGlumphy (Julie), and Liz Anne McGlumphy Stahl, and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his cherished mother, Patricia McGlumphy; his father, Guy McGlumphy; and his maternal grandparents who played a significant role in his upbringing, Joseph and Robinetta Berdine.

He was a lifelong resident of Hundred.  He was an active member of the community.  He was a coal miner by trade and owned an appliance store in the 80’s.  During his time in Hundred he was a volunteer firefighter, worked as an EMT, President of the ambulance squad, served on the city council, a member of the Littleton Lodge #131 AF & AM, and also a 32nd degree member of the Scottish Rite.  He worked diligently for many years to ensure that the Hundred pool remained open for the youth.  When it came to his community stewardship he was most passionate about his time as the Hundred-Littleton Alumni Association president and assistant football coach and statistician for the Hundred Hornets.  He served as the president of the alumni association for 25 years.  He was intensely committed to raising money for the scholarship fund to help the students of Hundred High School further their education.

Jim lived his life loud, bold, and a friend to all.  He loved his wife, children, and grandchildren fiercely.  He never hesitated to buy a round of drinks for all or help a friend in need.  We would be remiss if we did not mention the family that developed from friendship, Karen and Sam Longwell and Carolyn and Greg Hostutler and their respective children; Thad, Dana, Alana, Bill, Ashley, and Aaron.

Friends may call at the Tennant Funeral Home, 2678 Hornet Highway, Hundred, WV from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Saturday, April 16, 2022.  A memorial service will be held at 4:00 with Evangelist Sam Bartrug officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family requested that donations be made to the Hundred-Littleton Alumni Association in his name.  Please mail donations to, Hundred-Littleton Alumni Association, c/o Karen Longwell, Treasurer, PO Box 401, Hundred, WV   26575.

I had a charmed childhood growing up in Hundred, WV, and Jim and his family are a big reason why. He, and they, always made me feel special, bragged about my accolades, and let me know when something might not be a good idea.

You can always count on family, and I could, and can, always count on them. …and that makes us family.

Thank you, Jim, for taking part in making life so great.

I was very sad to learn of Jim’s passing. I’ve always held Jim and Bonnie in the highest regard. I always enjoyed being around Jim while playing football in high school and as an adult when he’d come into my office. Jim will be missed by the community and all that knew him. He was one of my favorite people. My condolences to the family.

We were so sorry to hear of Jim’s passing. Jim was a great guy and a friend to all. He enjoyed deer hunting with all the guys in our cabin on the hill. Rich would say Jim’s the first one out to hunt. They all had a great time in the WV van going to the ballgames. May he Rest In Peace. With loving memories of Jim, Rich and Marthea.
