SAMUEL K. HIBBS, JR.

Samuel Kelly Hibbs, Jr. went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 21, 2022.  He was born on January 25, 1939 in Wadestown, WV to the late Samuel Kelly Sr. and Margaret Hibbs.  Samuel had one older sister, Norma June Tennant, who preceded him in death; two brothers, Bill Hibbs of Radcliff, Kentucky and Bobby Hibbs of Marcellus, Michigan, who both survive.

He met and married Betty in 1959, his wife of 63 years.  Samuel had three children; Deborah Kerr (Charles) of Kansas City, Missouri, Steven Hibbs and Rhonda Sheets of Morgantown, WV. Sammy was blessed to be a grandfather to Travis Kerr, Ariel Kerr, Mia Hibbs, and most recently a great-grandfather to Jordan Bell.

Following a radical conversion in 1971 Samuel was called into pastoral ministry.  After graduating from Transylvania Bible College, he and Betty pastored several churches, including Bethel Church (Pine Bank, PA), Faith Chapel (Wana, WV) and Bula Baptist Church (Bula, WV), where they pastored for 25 years before retiring in 2014.  During this time, he also preached and held revival services in many area churches seeing many souls won to the Lord.  With Betty by his side, Samuel was faithful to the call of God on his life in preaching the gospel for over 30 years.

Sammy enjoyed fishing and hunting and later in life when he was unable to get out as much, he spent a lot of time creating beautiful woodwork for family and friends.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all of the nurses and health care professionals at WV Caring Hospice and Palliative Care for their exceptional care of Samuel in his final months.

Friends and family will be received from 6 to 8:00 PM on Sunday, April 24, 2022 and from 10:00 AM until 12:00 Noon on Monday.  A “Celebration of Life” service will be held at 12:00 PM at the Tennant Funeral Home, 2678 Hornet Highway, Hundred, WV with Pastor Rose Saunders officiating.  Burial will follow in the Wadestown Cemetery in Wadestown, WV.
