THELMA JEAN McCABE

          Thelma Jean McCabe, 88, of Core, WV died Monday, May 17, 2021 at her residence.

          She was born April 23, 1933 at Canonsburg, PA, a daughter of the late Earl B. Smyth and Mary Alice Cannon Maxwell.

          Mrs. McCabe formerly worked at Davis & Lynch Glass Co. and the Monongalia County Board of Education as a cook.  She attended the Jakes Run Assembly of God.

          Surviving are five daughters and their spouses, Patricia Statler and her husband Ronald of Core, Debra Tennant and her husband Marvin of Lostine, Oregon, Alice Rice and her husband Gene of Fairmont, Sharon Moore and her husband Kenneth of Fairview, and Kim Rose and her husband Don of Core; one half-sister, Leora Boggs of Morgantown; nine grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

          In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth D. McCabe; one sister, Jenny Smyth; two half-brothers, Billy Maxwell and Chucky Maxwell; and three grandchildren, Melissa Parrish Madagan, Rachel Tennant, and Jeremy Moore.

          Friends may call at the Owen-Neely Funeral Home, 5894 Mason-Dixon Highway, Blacksville, WV from 2-4 & 6-8 PM Wednesday.  Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11:00 AM Thursday with Pastor Rob Bennett officiating.  Interment will follow in the Olive Cemetery at Pentress.

          The family would like to thank Morgantown Hospice and Pastor Rob Bennett for the love, care, and compassion shown to Jean and her family during her illness.

I'm so sorry to hear of Aunt Jean's passing. She was a wonderful aunt and I had many good times as a kid in the summer staying at her house. She always had a smile for everyone. She will be missed by many!
