LYDIA JOSEPHINE “JO” RUSH
LYDIA JOSEPHINE “JO” RUSH, 96 OF New Bern, NC, passed away on Thursday, April 22, 2025. She was born May 11, 1928. She was the daughter of the late Donley Stiles and Flossie Stiles of Wadestown. She was a graduate of Clay-Battelle High School in Blacksville and WV Business School. In April 1949 she was married to Zane Lee Rush, and they were married for 72 years until his death.
Jo worked as a bank teller in her earlier years and as a library aide in Rockville, MD, school until retirement. She was a member of Wesleyan United Methodist Church in Wilmington, NC where she and Zane sang in the choir for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Zane Rush; her daughter, Jennifer Beth Rush; three brothers, Clark Stiles, Jim Stiles and Darwin “Bud” Stiles; and two sisters, Kathleen Vassalo and Barbara Myers.
Jo is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kathy Lynn Crow and Gwynn Crow of Bridgeton, NC; two grandsons, Joshua Skalko and his wife Nikki of Wilmington, NC and Andrew Skalko and his wife, Ginger of New Bern, NC; two great-grandchildren, Scarlet Jo Skalko and Dalton Zane Skalko; one brother, John Stiles of Tallahassee, Florida; two sisters-in-law, Margaret Stiles of Jacksonville, FL and Julia Kay Rush of Hundred; and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at the Wadestown Cemetery, Wadestown, WV on Friday, May 2, 2025 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Lynn Keener officiating.
The Tennant Funeral Home in Hundred, WV is in charge of arrangements.
