Gearl Dee Williams, Sr, 85 of Daybrook WV died Friday, May 19, 2006 at his residence surrounded by his family.
He was born July 13, 1920 at Daybrook, a son of the late James B. Williams and Celeste O. Tennant Williams.
Mr. Williams was a retired machinist from Westinghouse in Fairmont. He retired with 40 years of service. Westinghouse is now known as North American Phillips. He was a former president of the Clay District Fair Association. He was a member of the Daybrook Methodist Church. Gearl was a World War II veteran who served in the United States Air Force.
Surviving are three sons & spouses, Jack and Marlene Williams of Pentress, Donald and Valerie Williams of Jenkins, Kentucky, and Dennis Williams of Fairmont; three daughters & spouses, Cheryl and Dale Gallagher and Susan and Pete Michael, all of Fairview; Kim and Scott Brummage of Daybrook; two brothers, Fred Williams of Miracle Run and Richard Williams of Waynesburg, PA; three sisters, Betty Lyons of Irvine, California, Mabel McAfee of Spring Hills, Florida, and Roxie Tennant of Daybrook; eighteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Christine Williams who died on October 27, 2005; two brothers, Beryl Williams and James Williams; and four sisters, Amanda E. Gump, Mary Henderson, Suda Mae Smith, and Jane Wheeler.
Friends may call at the Owen-Neely Funeral Home in Blacksville from 7-9 PM Sunday and from 2-4 & 7-9 PM Monday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11:00 AM Tuesday with the Pastor David Joyce officiating. Interment will follow in the Williams Cemetery at Daybrook.
