Larry Wilson Stoneking, 72, of New Freeport, PA passed away at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh on Friday, June 19, 2015 following a brief illness.
He was born April 24, 1943 in Whiteley Township, Greene County, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Wilson Stoneking and Naomi Roupe Stoneking.
Mr. Stoneking was a lifelong resident of Garrison, PA. Larry was a 1962 graduate of West Greene High School. Following graduation he served in the United States Army from 1962 to 1968 as a heavy equipment operator.
Larry retired after 42 years at Roger Stalnaker Logging Company.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Jeannie Marie Hooper Stoneking; three sons, Doug (Christine) Stoneking, Mark Stoneking, and Craig (Kimberly) Stoneking, all of the New Freeport, PA area; one brother, Albert Ray (Kathy) Stoneking of Purvis, MS; three grandchildren, Amanda (Josh) Anderson, Rachel (Cody) Barnhart, and Matthew Stoneking; three step-grandchildren, Zachary Barnhart, Tyler Barnhart, and Levi Barnhart; and two great-grandchildren, Waylon Anderson and Regan Barnhart. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews including Troy Stoneking and Angela Stoneking.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two great-grandchildren, Jace and Piper Barnhart and his cat Joshy.
Friends may call at the Tennant Funeral Home, 2678 Hornet Highway, Hundred, WV from 6-9 PM Sunday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11:00 AM Monday with Rev. Cynthia Deter officiating. Interment will follow in the Thomas Cemetery at Ned, PA.
