David William “Bill” Fordyce, 92, of New Freeport, PA died Monday, November 24, 2014 in the Golden Living Center in Waynesburg, PA.

Bill was born June 1, 1922 at Moundsville, WV, a son of the late William Fordyce and Ollie Spragg Fordyce.

Mr. Fordyce was a retired machinist and he retired from Penn Manufacturing Company in Washington, PA.

He was a United States Army Veteran who served during World War II. He obtained the rank of Staff Sergeant and served as a medic.

Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Roy “Bob” Barnhart of Waynesburg, PA; three grandchildren and their spouses, Robert Barnhart and his wife Jill of Waynesburg, PA, Dan Barnhart and his wife Billie Jo of Carmichaels, PA, and Christina Harr and her husband Brad of Fairmont; and seven great-grandchildren, Adrian, Jade, Brady, and Josie Barnhart, and Chase, Landon, and Andrew Harr.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Fordyce, who died October 1, 2013, and a half-brother, Vance Fordyce.

Friends may call at the Tennant Funeral Home, 2678 Hornet Highway, Hundred, WV from 6-9 PM Friday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11:00 AM Saturday with Evangelist Steve Stevens officiating. Interment will follow in the Sand Hill Cemetery, Ned, PA.
