Darrell Eugene (Gene) Harker, 69, of Crossroads Community, Wadestown, died Sunday, January 27, 2013 at his residence.
He was born March 13, 1943 at Morgantown, a son of the late F. Carl and Lora Johnson Harker.
Mr. Harker was a 1961 graduate of Clay-Battelle High School. He formerly worked for King Knob Coal Company, Daybrook Development, and Bill Seaman Livestock.
Surviving are two sons and their spouses, Cam and Jennifer Harker, and Michael and Ellen Harker all of Laurel Point; one daughter and her spouse, Sherry and David Patterson with whom he made his home; five grandchildren, Lisa and Matt Riffle, Cameron Harker, Jon Harker, Jenna Harker, and Jaynie Harker; two great-grandchildren, Kyla and Kaylee Riffle; two sisters, Jane Varner of Core, and Amy Seaman and her husband Bill of Core; his mother-in-law, Norma Jean Tuttle of Crossroads; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon Harker, who died on February 16, 2001; his father-in-law, Jimmie Tuttle; two infant brothers, Forrest Carl Harker, Jr. and Calvin Clyde Harker; and his brother-in-law, Harold Varner.
Friends may call at the Tennant Funeral Home in Hundred, WV from 5-9 PM Tuesday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11:00 AM Wednesday with the Rev. Sherry Rawlings officiating. Interment will follow in the Olive Cemetery at Pentress.
