Edna Dorothy Simpson, 80, of Wana, WV died Friday, January 14, 2011 in the Sundale Nursing Home in Morgantown, WV.
She was born June 29, 1930, a daughter of the late Wilbur D. Weakley and Harriet Bessie Berry Weakley.
Dorothy had worked at many jobs during her lifetime. They included Murphy's 5 & 10 Store in Morgantown, Big G Restaurant in Blacksville, and the Wana Grocery Store. She served as treasurer of the Wadestown Volunteer Fire Department for 26 years.
She was a member of the Wana United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her husband of 60 years, Thomas J. Simpson; two daughters, Sandra Newberry of Independence, Missouri, and Peggy Martin of Columbia, SC; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert D. (Jughead) Weakley; a sister, Emma Platt; three sons, Richard Simpson, Tommy Simpson, and Charles D. Weakley; and one grandson, James Newberry.
Friends may call at the Tennant Funeral Home in Hundred from 2-4 & 7-9 PM Tuesday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11:00 Wednesday with the Rev. Rose Saunders officiating. Interment will follow in the Wadestown Cemetery.
