Twyla Lee Sanders, “Aunt Ninnie”, 75, of Wadestown was called home to be with her Lord on December 25, 2011 in the Monongalia General Hospital with her two loving sons at her side.
She was born November 29, 1936 at Wana, a daughter of the late Edward Livingston "Davie" Conaway and Margaret Maxine Rose Conaway.
Twyla worked for over 23 years as the office administrator for both the Clay-Battelle Community Health Center of Blacksville and the Community Health Center of Burton. She was one of the original employees of both health centers and served on the board for many years. After retirement she found pleasure in spending time with her family and friends. Twyla also enjoyed collecting Boyd Bears, trips to the Amish Country, outings with her “Ya-Ya” sisters, and working in her flower garden. She looked forward to lending a hand to anyone who needed help and will be greatly missed in the Wadestown community.
She was a deaconess and a very active member of West Warren Baptist Church of Wadestown, where she played the piano and fulfilled several other responsibilities, in the church. She was affiliated with the Wana United Methodist Church, and a member of their Women’s Club. She belonged to the Order of the Eastern Star Augusta Chapter #6 of Mannington.
Surviving are her husband of 50 years, Thomas Sanders, whom she married on July 14, 1961; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Doug and Kim Sanders and Dirk Sanders, all of Wadestown; one sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Larry Tennant of Pentress; two grandchildren that she adored, Lacey Sanders and Logan Sanders; both of Wadestown; two special ladies she had been friends with for many years, Wilma "MomMom" Shriver of Wadestown and Jan Stiles of Blacksville; several nieces and nephews that she cherished, along with everyone she called her friend.
Preceding her in death are her parents and a sister, Carolyn Sue.
Twyla was a great lady, wonderful wife, mom, gram, aunt, but most of all a good friend. She is greatly loved and will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
The family would like to give a sincere thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff on the 4th floor at Monongalia General Hospital for the care and compassion shown to Twyla and her family during her illness.
Friends may call at the Tennant Funeral Home in Hundred from 1-9 PM Wednesday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11:00 AM Thursday with Pastor Jack Snoderly officiating. Interment will follow in the Eakin-Wana Memorial Cemetery at Wana.
