ASHCRAFT, JAMES HARRY "TIM", 92, of Harlingen, Texas, formerly of Hundred, WV died on Thursday, June 23, 2011 at the Louis A. Johnson VA Hospital in Clarksburg, WV.

He was born July 26, 1918 in Hundred, WV, son of the late James Jolly and Margaret Elizabeth Clark Ashcraft.

Tim was a graduate of Hundred High School, Hundred, WV, class of 1939.

Tim was businessman in Hundred, WV for over 50 years, originally owning a grocery store then a successful Western Auto Store until retirement.

He served in the European Theater during World War II as an Army Medic.

Tim served as a State Legislator for Wetzel County in 1952. He was active in the local and state Republican Party.

He was a life-long member of the Hundred United Methodist Church of Hundred, WV.

Tim was a member of the Earl Kiger American Legion Post #120 of Hundred since 1946. He held numerous elected offices in Post #120. He became WV State Commander of the state American Legion. In 1975 through 1979, Tim was National Executive Committeeman for the National American Legion. He also served as a counselor for Mountaineer Boys State for several years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Freda Naomi Sapp Ashcraft in 2000, and his son James Patrick Ashcraft in 1974, his half-sisters, Ardella Ashcraft and Mildred Ashcraft and half-brother James Jolly Ashcraft, Jr.

Surviving are two children, Linda Sue Ashcraft Washington and her husband, Carl R Washington, of Harlingen, TX and Timothy J. Ashcraft and his wife Hope Elizabeth Ashcraft of Midwest City, OK.

Also surviving are four grandchildren, John M Washington of Windsor, CO, Timothy B Washington of Castle Rock, CO, Stephanie G Ashcraft of Midwest City, OK and Devin P Ashcraft of Midwest City, OK and one great grandchild, Kyle P Washington of Windsor, CO.

Friends may call at the Tennant Funeral Home in Hundred, WV from 2-4 and 7-9 PM Sunday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11:00 AM Monday with the Rev. Charlene Hatton officiating. Interment will follow in the Moore Cemetery, Knob Fork, WV.
