Rudyard K. Norris, 74, of New Martinsville, WV (Wileyville Community) died Tuesday, August 17, 2010.

He was born January 4, 1936 at Allister, WV a son of the late Howard Clinton Norris and Ulah Sapp Norris.

Mr. Norris was retired from Bayer with more than 30 years of service. At the time of his retirement he was a foreman in the tank farm.

Rud was a United States Air Force veteran having served for four years.

He was the past president of both the United Emergency Unit in Hundred and the Wetzel County Emergency Ambulance Authority. He was one of the founding members of the United Emergency Unit. He was involved with the squads for many years until his health would no longer permit him to work.

Rud was a christian who attended different churches in his life time.

Surviving are his wife, Roma Darlene Hartwig Norris; seven daughters, Frana Rose of Paden City, Diana Postlethwait of Knob Fork, Beverly Cisar of New Martinsville, Marilyn Kennedy, Adair Wood, Trina Hollabaugh, and Devona Reed, all of Knob Fork; twenty-two grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren; nine brothers and sisters, Neil Norris, Rona Grimm, Drane Norris, Karolyn Brown, Blaine Norris, Sandra McBee, Sharyn Utt, Bill Norris, and Gregory Norris.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Elliott Norris; one brother, Grady Norris, and one sister, Meryl Utt.

Friends may call at the Tennant Funeral Home in Hundred from 2-4 & 7-9 PM Thursday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11:00 AM Friday with the Rev. Charlene Hatton officiating. Interment will follow in the Wileyville Cemetery.
