Jack D. Whitehill, 70,of Hundred, WV died Tuesday, January 19, 2010 in the Monongalia General Hospital in Morgantown following a courageous battle with cancer.
Mr. Whitehill was born August 22, 1939 at Wana, WV a son of the late Charles Whitehill and Pauline Black Whitehill.
Jack was retired from the United States Government. He worked for the Central Intelligence Agency as an analyst. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of the Earl Kiger American Legion Post #120 of Hundred. He and his wife Nancy were the founders of the Mountaineer Deli Mart in Hundred and the Cameron Deli Mart in Cameron. He was a member of the Littleton Lodge #131 AF & AM. He was also a member of the Thomas Chapel United Methodist Church near Hundred.
Surviving are his wife, Nancy McClelland Whitehill; one son & daughter-in-law, John and Chandie Whitehill of Burton; one daughter, Shelley Moffett of Fairmont; one brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Rebecca Whitehill of Keyser, WV; and three grandchildren, Zachery Moffett, Danielle Moffett, and Colton Whitehill.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, William Whitehill and Robert Whitehill.
Friends may call at the Tennant Funeral Home in Hundred from 6-8 PM Thursday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11:00 AM Friday with the Rev. Charlene Edwards officiating. Interment will follow in the Eakin-Wana Memorial Cemetery at Wana.
The Littleton Lodge #131 AF & AM will conduct masonic graveside rites.
