Mildred Cosgray Church, 92, of Long Drain Road, Littleton, WV died Monday, September 12, 2005 in the Greenbrier Manor in Lewisburg.
She was born September 21, 1912 on Long Drain, near Littleton, a daughter of the late Clarence Cosgray and Bertha Kiger Cosgray.
Mrs. Church was a retired school teacher with 35 years of service for the Wetzel County Board of Education. She taught both high school and elementary school students in the Hundred area.
She was a graduate of Fairmont State College. She was a member of the Burton Homemakers Club, the Augusta Chapter #7, Order of Eastern Star of Mannington, Alpha Rho Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa, an honorary teachers sorority, the Wetzel County Farm Bureau, and the Thomas Chapel United Methodist Church where she served as a sunday school teacher and the church pianist for many years.
Surviving are one son & daughter-in-law, Harry "Ben" and Wilda Church of (Long Drain Road), Littleton; one daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Pat Brown of Lewisburg; six grandchildren and spouses; Angela and Ray Blake of Wilmington, NC, Ryan and Ame Church of Fairmont, Capt Christopher Church stationed with the United States Army at Fort Leonardwood, MO, Matthew Church of Littleton, Shelby Brown of Ypsilanti, MI; and Alex Brown of Morgantown; and three great-grandchildren, Olivia Blake, Rylee Erin Church, and Allie Brielle Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Church, who died on December 11, 1995, and a brother Norman Cosgray.
Friends may call at the Tennant Funeral Home in Hundred from 6-9 PM Thursday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11:00 AM Friday with the Rev. Don Newlon officiating. Interment will follow in the Thomas Chapel Cemetery near Hundred.
