Hazel M. Mercer, 89, of Hundred, WV died Wednesday, April 30, 2008 in Fairmont General Hospital.
She was born March 26, 1919 at Mobley, WV, a daughter of the late Jeffery Kendell and Viola Shreve Kendell.
Mrs. Mercer was a former employee of Miss Blue Restaurant and Motel in Hundred. She was a member of the Hundred Church of Christ. She also worked at caring for the elderly in the community.
She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She also loved pets, her flower garden, and gospel music.
Surviving are her children, Eleanor Lewis of Cameron, Barbara Hayes of Mannington, Lorena Pyles of New Martinsville, Donna Bartlett of New Martinsville, Penny Cumberlidge of Friendly, Pauline Wise of Jollytown, PA, Bertha Anderson of Hundred, Peggy Mercer of Hundred, Thomas Mercer of Hundred, and Edward Mercer of New Martinsville; thirty-one grandchildren, fifty-seven great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Thomas Mercer, who died on February 21, 1993; one son, Franklin D. Mercer, one daughter, Ethel M. Lewis, and several brothers and sisters.
Friends may call at the Tennant Funeral Home in Hundred from 3-8 PM Friday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11:00 AM Saturday with the Evangelist Steve Stevens officiating. Interment will follow in the Harmony Cemetery at Burton.
