Chester "Chet" vonSchmidt, 91, of St Leo Community, Wadestown, WV died Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at his residence.

He was born December 20, 1916 at Edgely, PA, a son of the late Felix vonSchmidt and Pearl Allen vonSchmidt.

Chet was a farmer most of his life. He retired as a tractor and trailer driver.

Surviving are his loving wife of 42 years, Carole and their three children, daughter Amelia Terrell of Accident, MD, daughter Carolyne Stolzenfels and husband Craig of Accident, MD, son Hanns vonSchmidt and his wife Deborah of Fairmont; son Carl vonSchmidt of Palm Harbor, FL, son Chet of Largo, FL, daughter Maureen Haines and her husband James of Phoenix, AZ, daughter Pearl vonSchmidt-Manning of Magnolia, TX, daughter Patricia Wilson and her husband Jeff of Indianna, daughter Nancy Sherman of Tampa, FL, son Fritz vonSchmidt and his wife Carol of Morrisville, PA; daughter, Shirley Amadeo of Murrells Inlet, SC; sister Dorenda Muchmore of Leighton, PA, brother Norman vonSchmidt and his wife Peggy of Waretown, NJ; sisters-in-law, Barbara vonSchmidt of Hendersonville, NC and Gladys vonSchmidt of Wrightstown, NJ; 26 nieces and nephews, 26 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Felix, Joseph, Edgar, Harry, Albert, and sisters Gladys Blatchley and Margaret Baker; son Felix vonSchmidt III; a niece, Gloria Gorish, a brother-in-law, Boyd Muchmore, and sons Douglas and Matthew; and nephews, Walter and Ronald.

At the request of the deceased there will not be any funeral home visitation. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM Sunday with Chaplin Bradley Corob officiating at the Wadestown Cemetery, Wadestown, WV.

Burial will follow in the Wadestown Cemetery.

The Tennant Funeral Home in Hundred is in charge of arrangements.
