Dare Oates, 95, of Browns Run Road, Littleton, WV died Saturday, April 21, 2007 in the Wishing Well Health Care Center in Fairmont where she had been a resident since June 23, 1999.

Mrs. Oates was born November 5, 1911 at Burton, WV a daughter of the late Newt Robinson and Mary Glover Robinson.

Dare traveled extensively and performed demonstrations with her spinning wheel. She served as secretary and treasurer of the Sportsman and Farmers Conservation Club of Hundred for many years. She was a member of the first graduating class of Hundred High School in 1929. The high school was built by her late father. Also, she was a member of the Burton Homemakers Club and she was a volunteer dispatcher for the United Emergency Squad in Hundred.

She was a member of the Harmony Baptist Church of Burton.

Surviving are one son & daughter-in-law, Leonard and Ethel Oates of Littleton; one sister, Olive Snyder of Morgantown; five grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Paul Oates, who died on November 17, 1974; one daughter, Mary E. Henthorn; two sisters, Inez Kennedy and Doris Marie Robinson who died as an infant; three brothers, Carl Robinson, Clark Robinson, and Edward Robinson who died as an infant; a son-in-law, Arnold Henthorn and a grandson, Robert Oates.

Friends may call at the Tennant Funeral Home in Hundred from 7-9 PM Monday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 1:00 PM Tuesday. Interment will follow in the Thomas Cemetery, Ned, PA.
