Irene B. Eakin, 94, of Fairmont, died Sunday, April 30, 2006 at the Pleasant Acres Christian Haven in Fairmont, where she was a resident.
She was born April 22, 1912 at Burton, WV a daughter of the late Mancel Byard and Bertha May Price Byard.
Irene was a member of the Harmony Baptist Church in Burton, WV. She loved to sew and do all types of crafts.
Irene lived on Fairmont Avenue for many years. She was well known for her daily walks to the Poky Dot Restaurant where she loved to eat her meals. Her last residence on Fairmont Avenue was at the Avenue Motel.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Eakin who died on October 8, 1975, two sisters, Helen Clelland who died on December 31, 1982 and Opal Lemley who died April 25, 2006.
She was the last surviving member of her family.
Friends may call at the Tennant Funeral Home in Hundred from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Wednesday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11:00 AM with the Pastor Jack Snoderly officiating. Interment will follow in the Cunningham Memorial Gardens in Burton.
