CHARLES W. “BUD” LONG
Charles W. “Bud” Long, 96, of Hundred, WV died Friday, May 10, 2019 at his residence.
He was born April 20, 1923 at Fairmont, a son of the late Charles Rockford Long and Mima Mae Hostutler Long.
Bud was a retired coal miner having retired from the Consolidation Coal Company Blacksville #2 mine. He was a United States Army veteran of World War, II having served in the 34th Signal Light Construction Battalion.
Mr. Long was a member of the Oak Forest United Methodist Church near Hundred.
Surviving are his six children; H. Wayne Long, Charles W. Long, Jr., and Deborah K. Metz all of Hundred; Beverly Lee of Fairmont, Mendy Tennant and her husband Dan of Fairview, and Kevin Long and his wife Pam of Morgantown; four sisters, Darlene Wilson of Richmond, VA, Thelma Prendergast of Hundred, Bobbie Ann Pierce and her husband Jim of Ripley, WV, and Linda Cork and her husband Dave of Warren, Ohio; twelve grandchildren, twenty six great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and one on the way, and a special nephew Roger Currey.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ann Long; four sisters, Helen Currey, Margie Sapp, Frances Lowther, and Lillian “Woody” Gerard; one great-granddaughter, Shane Elizabeth Hopkins; and a special son-in-law, Terry Duane Metz.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Amedysis Hospice and all of his caregivers for always treating him with respect, concern, and kindness.
Friends may call at the Tennant Funeral Home, 2678 Hornet Highway, Hundred, WV from 2-4 & 7-9 PM Sunday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 1:00 PM Monday with the Rev. Rose Saunders officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Forest Cemetery near Hundred.
