THOMAS McCOY
Thomas Ray McCoy, 70, of Daybrook, died June 3, 2019 at J. W. Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
He was born February 7, 1949 at Daybrook, a son of the late William McCoy and Florence Foley McCoy.
Tom was a retired shaft worker. He was a protestant by faith.
Surviving are his wife, Nora Carpenter McCoy to whom he had been married for 49 years; his children, Emzie who is married to Daniel Barr, George who is married to Heather McCoy, Rachel McCoy, Rebecca “Becky” McCoy, Thomas Jr. who is married to Amanda McCoy, who are all of Daybrook; grandchildren, Daniel T. Barr, Jacob Moore, Thomas “Tray” McCoy, III, Mark McCoy, William “Billy” McCoy, and Ryan McCoy; sister, Lucy Varner of Miracle Run; brother Nimrod McCoy and his wife Christine of Days Run, brother George McCoy and his wife Mazzie of Daybrook; brother-in-law, Clyde Carpenter and his wife Eve of Virginia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by the following siblings; Sabastian, Nancy, Henry, Dennis, Florence, and Anna Pearl McCoy, Mary Tennant, and Edna Carpenter.
He was a member of the UMWA since 1976 and he retired in 2011. He served as a director for the Clay-District Fair Association.
Friends may call at the Owen-Neely Funeral Home, 5894 Mason-Dixon Highway, Blacksville, WV from 6-9 PM Thursday. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday with Rev. Freddie Eddy, II officiating. Interment will follow in the McCoy Cemetery at Daybrook.
