ROBERT WALKER

            Robert Paul Walker, 93, of Jakes Run was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 18, 2019.  Bob was born December 8, 1925 in Jakes Run to the late Ollie Bruce Walker and Mildred Henderson Walker.

            He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Minnie Stanley Walker.

            He is survived by two daughters and one son, Nancy Ellen Facemire and husband Jeff of Fairmont, Joyce Ann Bennett and husband Rob of Jakes Run, and David Paul Walker and wife Tracy of Fairmont.

            He was PopPop to seven grandchildren, Andrew Christopher Facemire and wife Carolyn of Apex, NC, Daniel Jeffrey Facemire of Ft. Collins, CO, Justin Robert Bennett of Pittsburgh, PA, Emily Bennett DiLullo and husband Raffaele of Pittsburgh, PA, Jack David Walker of Fairmont, Grace Erin Walker of Fairmont and Lucy Elizabeth Walker of Fairmont.  Also surviving are three great-grandchildren, Lena Rose and Airlie Ann Facemire of Apex, NC and Phoenix Reyn Bodenheimer of Flower Mound, TX; and three step-grandchildren also remain, Scottie Goodwin of Fairmont, Mason Hetrick of Greensburg, PA, and Rachel Hetrick of Morgantown.  Bob is survived by his sister, Ruby Gail Walker of Jakes Run and Mary Catherine Walker, his cousin who was raised as a sister, and an uncle, Alden “Bill” Henderson of Naperville, IL.

            Bob was preceded in death by one sister, Neva Ruth Walker.

            As a young boy, Bob’s family moved to Hutchinson, KS during the Great Depression, returning to Jakes Run years later.  He was a 1944 graduate of Clay-Battelle High School where he excelled on the basketball team.  Bob was a proud World War II veteran having served from 1944-1947.  He was stationed in German where he worked at a prisoner of war camp for Germans.

            Bob retired from Pennzoil after 40 years of service.  He was a faithful and devoted member of Jakes Run Assembly of God where he held many positions.  He was a deacon for over 40 years, a trustee and Sunday school superintendent.   His greatest love was the youth group that he traveled with for many years as the navigator on every trip.

            He was known for helping the poor and those in need in his community.  He was past president of the Morgantown chapter of Mended Hearts where he counseled families and patients facing heart surgery.  Bob traveled the United States with his dear friend Bob Hartley representing Mended Hearts.  He was a past member of the Clay-Battelle Lions Club and past Clay-Battelle High School Band Booster president.

            Bob was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, cousin, son, friend, and neighbor.  He enjoyed nothing more than vacations with his grandchildren to Ocean City, New Jersey, and Lancaster, PA.  He was a master gardener and salt rising bread baker with Minnie.  He was loved and respected by all who knew him.

            Visitation will be at the Jakes Run Assembly of God Church, Tuesday, August 20, 2019 from 12:00 Noon to 8:00 PM.  Funeral services will be held at the church at 11:00 AM Wednesday with his son-in-law, Pastor Rob Bennett officiating.  Full military burial will be at the St Luke Cemetery in Mooresville.

            The Owen-Neely Funeral Home in Blacksville is in charge of arrangements.
