BUDDY AMMONS
Buddy Burl Ammons, 88, of Jakes Run died Sunday, July 13, 2025 in the John Manchin Sr. Assisted Living Center in Farmington, WV.
He was born October 10, 1936 a son of the late Oscar Burl Ammons and Ice “Mae” Johnson Ammons.
Buddy was a coal miner having worked at the Blacksville #1 mine. After working at the mine, he worked for the Monongalia County Board of Education as a janitor.
He was a veteran of the United States Army. Buddy liked hunting and fishing and yelling at his TV during WVU Mountaineer games.
Surviving is one son and his wife, Mark Ammons and his wife Judy of Severn, MD; one brother and his wife, Ronald Blaine Ammons and his wife Donna of Mooresville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Joyce Renner Ammons; two daughters, Marlene Ammons, and Rebecca Ammons who died as an infant; three sisters, Martha Statler, Freeda Moore, and Alberta Ruth Ammons who died as an infant; and two brothers, Donald “Red” Ammons and Delbert Ammons.
Friends and family may call at the Owen-Neely Funeral Home, 5894 Mason-Dixon Highway, Blacksville, WV from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, July 17, 2025. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in the Olive Cemetery at Pentress.
