Jack J. Johnson, 83, of Jakes Run, died Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at his residence.
He was born May 29, 1934 at Mooresville, a son of the late George W. Johnson and Pearl E. Jones Johnson.
Mr. Johnson was a retired coal miner. He worked as an electrician for the coal companies. He was a veteran of the United States Army.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Nellie Trader Johnson; his beloved dog, Dusty; two brothers, Melvin Johnson of Kingwood and John Johnson of Washington, DC; two sisters, Ruth Johnson of Fairview and Rose Caltrider of Parkersburg; and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, James Johnson, George Johnson, Bob Johnson, and Denzil Ray Johnson; and two sisters, Betty Gantt and Jean Kennedy.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday at the Olive Cemetery at Pentress with Evangelist Nick Dieger officiating. Interment will follow in the Olive Cemetery.
The Owen-Neely Funeral Home in Blacksville is in charge of arrangements.
