Leroy “Buck” Barr, 89, of Blue Goose Community, Daybrook, WV died Tuesday, June 21, 2016 in the Monongalia General Hospital in Morgantown.
He was born at Fairview, WV May 25, 1927, a son of the late John W. Barr and Martha Ellen Carpenter Barr.
Buck was a retired electrician for the Eastern Associated Coal Corporation Federal #2 mine. He was a veteran of the United States Army.
Surviving are his wife, Deloris Tennant Barr; four sons and their spouses, Rocky & Cathy Barr, Greylyn “Dusty” & Judy Barr, Zyndall & Laura “Tiny” Barr, and Vance & Kathy Barr; eleven grandchildren and their spouses, Shannon & Crystal Barr, Kelly Jo Barr, Derek Barr & Ashley Swanson, Cheyenne Barr, Joey Kemmer, Chassidy Barr & Bryan Riley, Frances Ornder, Jamie & Derreck Wilson, Katelyn Barr, Megan Barr, and Ethan Barr; nine great-grandchildren, Braxton Roscoe, Jeremiah Barr, Mariah Fleming, Jaleseya Rich, Clayton Graham, Dylan Graham, Devan Graham, Hayli McClure, and Alexia Wilson; and siblings, Jake & Dorothy Barr, Marie Tennant, June & Anna Ruth Barr, Billy & Linda Barr, Jimmy & Nola Barr, and Jeannie & Gary Simpson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Harry “Budgie” Barr and two sisters, Emmie Deloris Barr and Alice Katherine Barr.
Friends may call at the Owen-Neely Funeral Home, 5894 Mason-Dixon Highway, Blacksville, WV from 7-9 PM Thursday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11:00 AM Friday with Rev. Freddie Eddy, II officiating. Interment will follow in the Olive Cemetery at Pentress.
