Mildred Louise Moore Jones, 83, of Brave, PA died Friday, October 16, 2015 at her residence. She fought a courageous battle with cancer by not letting it define her. She lived her final days to the fullest.

She was born February 16, 1932 at Jerome, PA, a daughter of the late John Thomas Moore and Birdinia Mildred Hassenpflug Moore.

Mrs. Jones lived in Jerome, PA, Kirby, PA, Mt. Morris, PA, and since 1957 she has made her home in Brave.

Mildred was a very active lady in her life. She was a member of the Sisters of Rebecca; organized the PTA in Brave; member of the PA Notary of the Public Society; member of the Wayne Township Fireman’s Auxillary; member of AARP; an H & R Block Tax preparer; active political supporter; member of the Clay-Battelle Senior Center; and a member of the Rythum Airs Band.

Mrs. Jones always had a quest for knowledge. Her favorite pastime was coffee with her friends discussing politics and current events.

She was married to Melvin Phillip Jones who died on July 2, 1983. The couple was married on December 29, 1950.

Surviving are two sons, Stanley Jones and his wife Deborah and David Jones; two daughters and their spouses, Connie Braham and her husband Kenneth and Loretta Conner and her husband William; two brothers, Harry Austin “Sonny” Moore, Richard Allen Moore; four sisters, Ada Joan Eagle, Ida June Everman, Carolyn Virginia Voltz, and Katie Yasko; eight grandsons, Travis Jones, Steven Jones, Christopher Jones, Ryan Jones, Charles Daniel Tennant, William Michael Conner, Oliver Conner, and Michael Leo Higgins; two granddaughters, Heather Jean Higgins and Holly Lorraine Higgins; and six great-grandchildren, Jennifer Shriver, Brandon Shriver, Austin Leary, Tyrus Higgins, Amali Higgins, and Jonathan Tennant.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by brothers, John Thomas Moore, Jr., Elmer Lee Moore, Walter Charles Moore, and Joseph Blair Moore; and sisters, Geraldine Matalita Brewer, Ella Stueber, Betty Jane Moore, Maggie Alves, and Bonnie Barr.

Friends may call at the Owen-Neely Funeral Home, 5894 Mason-Dixon Highway, Blacksville, WV from 6-9 PM Sunday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11:00 AM Monday with the Pastor Jerry Teter officiating. Interment will follow in the Olive Cemetery at Pentress.
