Naomi Jane Tennant, 86, of Wadestown, WV died Sunday, April 27, 2014 at her residence.
She was born July 3, 1927 at Daybrook, a daughter of the late Gilbert DeVine and Gracie Mae Statler DeVine.
Mrs. Tennant worked at Hills Department Store for many years where she worked as a department head.
Naomi was an active member of the Clay-Battelle Senior Citizens. She was the band director for the Rhythmnaires which was a band that performed at fairs and parades. Mrs. Tennant was a graduate of Clay-Battelle High School.
She was a member of the Grace Fellowship Church of Wana.
Surviving are one son, Charles Tennant of Russell, KY; one daughter, Sheila Tennant of Wadestown; two brothers, John Newton DeVine of Blacksville and Gilbert W. DeVine of Greensburg, PA; one sister, Gail Berry of Daybrook; six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Tennant loved her family and was very involved with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren in their school and sports activities.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edwin Tennant; one son, Alan G. Tennant; and one brother, Wilford "Rip" DeVine.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, May 3, 2014, at the Grace Fellowship Church of Wana with Pastor Steve Edwards officiating.
Inurnment of the cremains will take place at a later date in the Daybrook Cemetery.
The Owen-Neely Funeral Home in Blacksville is in charge of arrangements.
