Claude "Al" Roush, 79, Wana, died Thursday, February 13, 2014 in Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
He was born July 22, 1934 at Mason City, WV, a son of the late Eddie Roush and Bertha Roy Roush.
Al was a retired coal miner from the Blacksville #2 mine at Wana. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America District #31, Local 1702.
Mr. Roush was a member of the Wana United Methodist Church.
He embraced his family and everyone he met with his kindness, love, and humor. His life was his kids and grandchildren. He's been an avid CB fan for over 40 years and is know as "Pappy Al" to the community. His hobbies were fishing and flea marketing.
Surviving is his wife of 55 years, Betty Kehl Roush; three sons and their spouses, Arthur Roush and wife Susie of Spraggs, PA, Allen Roush and Jeff Roush, both of Wana; two daughters and their husbands, Ruth Fitzgerald and husband Rick of Morgantown, Becky King and husband Billy of Wadestown; two brothers, Melvin Roush of Ohio and Eddie Roush, Jr. of North Carolina; eleven grandchildren, Chris Howard, Chrissi Fitzgerald, Holly Fitzgerald, Jordan Roush, Jennifer Roush, Jarrett Roush, Tim Roush, Arieka Roush, Kayla Roush, Levi King, and Shane King; and three great-grandchildren, Nickolas Fitzgerald, Canaan Gilleland, and Cannen Howard.
Al was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, and four sisters.
Friends may call at the Owen-Neely Funeral Home in Blacksville from 2-4 & 6-9 PM Monday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11:00 AM Tuesday with the Pastor Steve Edwards officiating. Interment will follow in the Eakin-Wana Memorial Cemtery.
