Dennis Leo Murphy, 58, of Fairmont, WV died Sunday, September 25, 2016 at his residence.
He was born April 27, 1958 at Weirton, WV, a son of the late Lawrence “Shorty” Murphy and Lydia Ruth Hamilton Murphy.
Dennis was a member of the former Assumption Catholic Church of Littleton.He worked most of his life on the railroad doing various jobs.
He was formerly married to Teresa Stewart.
Surviving is a son, Michael; one sister Marie Morris and her husband Sam of Reader; nephews, David (Jami) Morris and Nathan Johnson; nieces Tammy Martin, Judy (Wayne) Carlson, Jennifer (Michael) Brown and Erika (Jake) Fishel; and several great nieces, great nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his Aunt Nelle Murphy who helped raise him and one sister, Elizabeth Johnson.
Friends may call at the Tennant Funeral Home, 2678 Hornet Highway, Hundred, WV from 4-7 PM Friday.Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM Saturday at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Mannington with Rev. Father Vincy Sebastian Illickall officiating.Interment will follow in the Robert MorrisCemetery near Reader at the convenience of the family.
Dennis was a caring and loving uncle
