Jean Smerdell, 89, of Uniontown, PA, formerly of the Blacksville area, died Thursday, October 21, 2010.
She was born June 10, 1921 at Gassaway, WV, a daughter of the late Elizina Barnett.
Mrs. Smerdell was a homemaker.
Surviving are three sons and their spouses, Paul Smerdell and his wife Sonya of Blacksville, WV, Douglas Smerdell and his wife Tonya of Daybrook, WV, and Charles Pysh and his wife Karen of Frederick, MD; one daughter and her spouse, Sandra Aller and her husband John of Uniontown, PA, with whom she made her home; one step-daughter, Mrs. Frank (Toodie) Gashie of Dilliner, PA; several grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; two special friends, Judy Forst and Betsy Vannoy; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Smerdell; a step-son, Arthur Smerdell; one brother, Rexil Dillon, and a foster-brother, Raymond Chapman.
Friends may call at the Owen-Neely Funeral Home in Blacksville, WV from 2-4 & 7-9 PM Sunday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 2:00 PM Monday with the Rev. Paul Lesher officiating. Interment will follow in the Olive Cemetery at Pentress, WV.
