John P. Tennant, 79, of Jakes Run died Thursday, July 31, 2008 in Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
He was born September 2, 1928 at Jakes Run, a son of the late Richard D. Tennant and Ida Mae McCord Tennant.
Mr. Tennant retired from the Federal #1 mine at Grant Town where he worked for 15 years. He last worked as a loading machine operator.
He was a member of the Daybrook Church of Christ.
Surviving are two son and their wives, Edward and Abby Tennant and Stephen and Donna Tennant all of Jakes Run; two daughters and one son-in-law, Diana DeWitt and her husband Bob DeWitt and Louie Tennant, all of Jakes Run; one sister, Dorothy Troy of Elyria, Ohio; and seven grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Waneda Tennant who died on July 28, 2006; six brothers, Lester Tennant, Lloyd Tennant, Edwin "Ted" Tennant, George Tennant, Richard Tennant, and Charles Floyd Tennant, who died as an infant; and four sisters, Ruby Brummage, Ada Butcher, Myrtle Flint, and Pearl Sears.
Friends may call at the Owen-Neely Funeral Home in Blacksville from 7-9 PM Friday, and from 2-4 & 7-9 PM Saturday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 2:00 PM Sunday with the Evangelist Aaron Snider officiating. Interment will follow in the Brewer Cemetery.
