George Ray "Tom" Lemley, 92, of Pentress, WV died Thursday, June 5, 2008 in the Sundale Nursing Home in Morgantown.
Tom was born February 26, 1916 at Mt. Morris, PA, a son of the late Minor S. Lemley and Laura Shanks Lemley.
Mr. Lemley worked as a carpenter and worked for the railroad. He was a member of the Clay-Battelle Senior Citizens and was affiliated with the Olive United Methodist Church.
Surviving are two sons, Bill Lemley of Brave, PA, and Terry Lemley of Core; one daughter, Ruth Ann Staggers of Paden City, WV; one brother, Charles Ott "Blackie" Lemley of Mt. Morris; four grandchildren, Pamela Myers, Kristie Cumberledge, Danny Lemley, and Tracy Lemley; seven step-grandchildren, Mark Pastoria, Valerie Mathason, Amy Tedrow, Janel Garrison, Stephanie Owens, Christy Evans, and Steve Michael; five great-grandchildren including one special great-granddaughter, Karisa Cumberledge; sixteen step-great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Evelyn Lemley, who died on December 22, 1986; and twelve brothers and sisters, Myrtle Bowers, Rex Lemley, Mary Ammons, Mayme Stewart, Effie Spitznogle, Eva Spitznogle, Hazel Fox, Linnie Hogue, Earl Lemley, Carl Lemley, Raymond Lemley, and Floyd Lemley.
Friends may call at the Owen-Neely Funeral Home in Blacksville, WV from 4-8 PM Saturday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 1:30 PM Sunday with the Pastor Fred Tomlinson officiating. Interment will follow in the Olive Cemetery at Pentress.
