Allen Leon Simpson, 70, of Wana, WV died unexpectedly Saturday, July 3, 2010 in the Monongalia General Hospital in Morgantown.
He was born May 3, 1940 at Wana, a son of the late Ira & Mildred Roupe Simpson.
Allen was a retired UMWA coal miner from Consolidation Coal Company No. 2 mine.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Doris May Tennant Simpson, whom he married on October 12, 1957. Also surviving are his children and their spouses, Susan and Tom Stiles, Debbie and Ron Foley, Jeanie and Dave King, Allen Jr. and Erin Simpson, all of Wana, and Cheryl Simpson of Parkersburg; grandchildren, Brent, Amy & Tommy Stiles, Greg and Eric Foley, Jason Miller, Michael and Dennis King, Doug and Cierra Minor, and Abbie, Emma and Caleb Simpson; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Dave and Carolyn Simpson of Newton Falls, OH and Vernon and Lila Simpson of Crossroads.
Preceding him in death in addition to his parents are two brothers, John Wetzel Simpson and Ira "Buck" Simpson, Jr., and a granddaughter, Sophie Grace Simpson.
He was an avid trapshooter and was a member of the ATA & Stringtown Gun Club at Carmichaels, PA.
Friends may call at the Owen-Neely Funeral Home in Blacksville from 3 to 9:00 PM Wednesday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11:00 AM Thursday with the Pastor Edward Woods officiating. Interment will follow in the Core Cemetery at Bula.
