Antony Sago, Jr. of Burton passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at the age of 87 in Ruby Memorial Hospital. He was born September 4, 1927 in Rivesville, WV, a son of the late Antony Sago and Mary Pouellion Sago.
Antony was affectionately known to his family and friends as “Pap”.
In 1946, Pap joined the United States Army and served during WWII; after he returned to West Virginia to start a family with his wife Alberta “Sis”. Pap spent his younger years raising three boys with Sis on the farm, enjoyed his time as an avid coon hunter, and loved the game of football; never missing a WVU Mountaineer game. In his later years, he enjoyed fishing with his grandsons, farming, gardening, and woodworking, especially building his large bird houses. He would often be seen driving his orange and brown Model A in local parades. Pap retired from Eastern Associated Coal Corporation Federal #2 mine.
Pap leaves to cherish his memory; two sons and a spouse, Anthony (Doc) Sago and David and Ramona Sago; four grandchildren; Chrisy and spouse Ryan Myhand, Brian and spouse Jeanie Sago, April Sago, and Jeff Sago; and three great-grandchildren, Seth and Sydnee Myhand and Maddie Sago.
He was preceded in death by two wives, Alberta and Wilda; one son Richard Sago; one grandson David (Skeeter); and a sister, Betty.
A private service honoring pap will be held at the Olive Cemetery at Pentress where he will be laid to rest at the side of his first love, Sis.
