Bernice L. Tennant, 88, of Blacksville, died Friday, May 1, 2015 in the Monongalia General Hospital in Morgantown.

She was born February 25, 1927 at Blacksville, a daughter of the late Harry Husk and Nella Myers Husk.

Mrs. Tennant worked as a cashier for the Blacksville Garage.

She was a member of AARP and the Golden Star Wives of America. She was a 1946 graduate of Clay-Battelle High School and a protestant by faith.

Bernice loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, loved to travel to Myrtle Beach, SC, loved gardening, loved working word search puzzles, and was an avid sports fan.

Surviving is one daughter and her husband, Carolyn Kiger and her husband Harold of Blacksville; two half-brothers, Harry Husk, Jr. of Elyria, Ohio and Gary Six of Hollywood, Florida; one sister, Glenda Sconish of Fairmont; three grandsons and their spouses, Brian and Annette Kiger of Morgantown, Brent and Shannon Kiger and Brett and Mandy Kiger, all of Raleigh, NC; and two great-grandchildren, Austin Kiger of Morgantown and Kaylee Kiger of Raleigh, NC, and a great-grandchild that is due in July; and her beloved dog, Zoey.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-mother, Jenny Marie Jones Husk; her husband, Benjamin Tennant; and two half-sisters, Ada Marguerite Tennant and Patty Eddy.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. William Mitchell; the doctors and nursing staff at Monongalia General Hospital; and to the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore for the care and compassion show to Bernice and her family.

Friends and family may call at the Owen-Neely Funeral Home in Blacksville from 2-4 & 6-9 PM Monday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11:00 AM Tuesday with Rev. Freddie Eddy, II officiating. Interment will follow in Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens in Westover.
