Bertha Belle Wilson, 85, of Jakes Run, passed away Friday, January 15, 2016 at Monongalia General Hospital in Morgantown.

She was born November 2, 1930 in Blacksville, a daughter of the late Johnny D. Brewer and Mabel Varner Brewer.

Bertha was a homemaker. She was a loving mother and grandmother who loved to spend time with her family. In her earlier years she was a member of the Chatterbox CB Club, where she was known as Little Hen. She enjoyed bowling, and bowled on the Sunday Night Ladies League at Sycamore Lanes with her daughters. She always loved to bake and often made cookies and pepperoni rolls for her friends. As her health declined, she was lovingly cared for by her daughters, Judy and Abby.

Surviving are five children and their spouses, Judy and Rich Lash of Jakes Run, Richard and Bonnie Wilson of Jakes Run, John and Barbara Wilson of Mooresville, Ricky Wilson of Jakes Run, and Abby and Edward Tennant of Jakes Run; ten grandchildren, Eric Michael, Tyler Lash, Greg Wilson, Stephanie Wilson, Johnny Wilson, Brian Wilson, Doug Wilson, Jenny Frye, Kevin Tennant and Beth Tennant; five step-grandchildren, Russell Runner, Lawrence Michael Jr., Jeff Pritchard, Terri Peters and Justin Pritchard; sixteen great-grandchildren and nine step-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband on May 15, 2000; one daughter, Margaret Michael; two grandsons, Benji Wilson and Chad Wilson; three sisters, Helena Tennant, Virginia Tennant, and Christina Shaw; and one brother, William Brewer.

At the request of the deceased there will not be any public visitation or funeral service. All services will be private and will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will follow in the Olive Cemetery at Pentress.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to any of the following: Clay-Battelle Senior Citizens, Blacksville Volunteer Fire Department, MOMMS, Grant Town EMS, or any Hospice organization.

The Owen-Neely Funeral Home in Blacksville is in charge of arrangements.
