Charles Willis (Jack) Copeland, 91, of Core, WV died Sunday morning in the MonPointe Continuous Care Center in Morgantown.

He was born October 20, 1913 at Pentress, WV a son of the late Charles William and Mineola Virginia Weekly Copeland.

Mr. Copeland was a retired coal miner who worked at the Arkright Mine for more than 27 years. He was a member of the Olive United Methodist Church at Pentress.

Surviving are two sons and one daughter-in-law, Charles Wayne and Janice Copeland of Wadestown and Marvin Glenn Copeland of Core; one sister, Hazel Copeland of Morgantown; two grandchildren and a spouse, Michael and Carol Copeland of Morgantown and Barbara Watkins of Fairmont; and two great-grandchildren, Sarah Ann Watkins of Fairmont and Tyler Wayne Copeland of Morgantown.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Frances E. "Fanny" Varner Copeland, who died on January 13, 2004, whom he married on June 30, 1941; a daughter, Virginia Ellen Copeland who died as an infant; five brothers, Arcie, Loyd, Rex, Knight, and Clarence Copeland; and one sister, Alta Copeland Gump.

Friends may call at the Owen-Neely Funeral Home in Blacksville from 7-9 PM Monday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11:00 AM Tuesday with the Rev. Rose Saunders officiating. Interment will follow in the Olive Cemetery at Pentress, WV.
