Edgar “Eddie” Stiles, 81, of Blacksville, WV died Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
He was born December 23, 1933 at Wadestown, a son of the late Milton Stiles and Blanche Tennant Stiles Goodnight.
Eddie was a retired electrician. He was a member of the IBEW Local #425 out of Pittsburgh, PA for 59 years. He was inducted into the Golden Circle Country Music Honor Society on June 4, 2005. He was in various bands throughout his lifetime and they would play music at fairs and nursing homes and other festivities. He loved to spend time with his family at the farm.
Mr. Stiles was in the United States Army in Germany from 1956 to 1958.
He was a protestant by faith.
Surviving is his wife of 59 years, Janice Snyder Stiles, whom he married on November 25, 1955; one son and his spouse, Steven Stiles and his wife Ronda of Pentress; one daughter and her spouse, Marcia Peoples and her husband Jim of Morgantown; two brothers and their spouses, Harold Stiles and his wife Bessie of Brave, PA and Wayne Stiles and his wife Jean of Morgantown; one sister, Lucille Kennedy of York, PA; six grandchildren, Jennifer, Danyele, Elise and her husband Brad, Derek, Michael, and Amanda; and one great-grandson, William.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Roy Goodnight.
The family would like to give a special “Thank You” to Morgantown Hospice an Amedisys Partner; and to their nurses, Dawn, Courtney, Chantel, Jim, and Karen, for their compassion shown to Eddie and his family during his illness.
Friends may call at the Owen-Neely Funeral Home, 5894 Mason-Dixon Highway, Blacksville, WV from 2-4 & 6-8 PM Friday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11:00 AM Saturday with Rev. Samuel K. Hibbs, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Olive Cemetery at Pentress.
