EDNA CARPENTER

            Edna Carpenter, 71, of Daybrook, died Sunday, August 19, 2018 in Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.

            She was born June 20, 1947 at Daybrook, a daughter of the late William Luther McCoy and Florence Foley McCoy

            Mrs. Carpenter was a homemaker.

            Surviving are five sons, George Luther Carpenter, Jakes Run, Tom Leroy Carpenter, Fairmont, Dale Carpenter, Jakes Run, John Carpenter, Jakes Run, and Samuel D. Carpenter, Daybrook; three brothers, George McCoy of Daybrook, Tom McCoy of Daybrook, and Nimrod McCoy of Pentress; one sister, Lucy Varner of Miracle Run; seventeen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

            In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death her husband, John Carpenter; one son, John Henry Carpenter who died as an infant; four sisters, Florence McCoy, Anna Pearl McCoy, Mary D. Tennant, Nancy McCoy; and three brothers, Dennis McCoy, Henry McCoy, and Earl McCoy.

            Friends may call at the Owen-Neely Funeral Home in Blacksville from 6-8 PM Wednesday.  Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11:00 AM Thursday with Rev. Freddie Eddy, II officiating.  Interment will follow in the McCoy Cemetery at Daybrook.

Edna was one of the strongest ladies I've ever known. I'm proud to say she was my mother in law and she taught me many things over the 34 years I've been part of this family. One of the things she taught me was how to love forever and forgiveness. She will be greatly missed. I hope you rest peacefully.
