Ethel May Pyle Layton died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on June 4, 2016, she was 93.

She was born February 11, 1923 at Kirby, PA, a daughter of the late Minor Ray Pyles and Sarah Jane Baysinger Pyles.

Ethel was a lifelong member of the Buckeye United Methodist Church and Mt. Morris Senior Center where she had many dear friends. In her earlier years she delivered meals on wheels and was active in the Buckeye Community. She was a member of the Mason-Dixon Park and enjoyed gatherings and festivals. She enjoyed cooking and was an excellent cook and she was a former employee of Mt. Morris Bell’s Market and retired as a school bus driver for the Monongalia County Board of Education. She was a graduate of Clay-Battelle High School.

She was married to the late Truman Edmond (Bill) Layton who died on December 8, 1999.

Surviving are her children, Tom (Mary Ann) Layton, Connie (Bob) Ammons, George (Dianna) Layton, and Willie Layton, all of Buckeye Road, Core. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Cari (Sean) Cummins, Erik Layton, Bobby (Yaritza Tano’n) Ammons, Traci (Becton) Davis, Rick (Andrea) Layton, Stacey (Pam) Layton, Tracy Layton (Tammy Lash), Becky (Hank) Reynolds, Barb (Matt) Sickles, Rob Brookover (Leslie Batto), Aaron Brookover, and Justin Layton (fiancée Brooke Wilson); thirty three great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter due in August; and a very special friend Jim Henline and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by her daughters, Mary Louise Brookover and Linda Sue Layton who died as an infant; a great-grandson, Brandon Reynolds; two brothers, Rev. O. G. Pyles and Evangelist George W. Pyle; and a sister, Thelma Guseman.

Friends may call at the Owen-Neely Funeral Home, 5894 Mason-Dixon Highway, Blacksville, WV from 6-9 PM Tuesday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 1:00 PM Wednesday with the Rev. Wanda Brosky officiating. Interment will follow in the Cedar Grove Cemetery in Mt. Morris, PA.
