FERNE C. KNIGHT

          Ferne C. Knight, 86, of Washington, PA died Wednesday, January 19, 2022 in the Southmont of Presbyterian Seniorcare in Washington, PA.

          She was born April 18, 1935 in Center Township, Greene County, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late John Harl Conkey and Pearle Breese Conkey.

          Mrs. Knight worked at several different businesses as a secretary.  She was employed by the Wetzel County Board of Education as a secretary at Hundred Grade School and at Bank of Hundred, to include a few.  She was a lifelong Baptist and attended church regularly when her health permitted.

          Surviving is a step-son, Jay Knight of Masontown, PA; two daughters, Diane Edwards of Washington, PA and Debra Chain of Ridgefield, CT; one step-daughter, Debbie Lee Tustin of Hundred; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and three sisters, Sue Clutter of Sycamore, PA, Naomi Lapping of Waynesburg, PA, and Betty Scherick of New Philadelphia PA.

          Ferne was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Melvin Mitchell who died in 1970; her second husband, Glenn Wayne Knight, who died in December 20, 2020; and two sisters, Catherine Conkey, who died as an infant, and Clara Iams; and a brother, Laverne Conkey.

          At the request of the deceased her body will be cremated.  The Tennant Funeral Home in Hundred, WV is in charge of arrangements.
