Franklin Pierce, 83, of Independence, WV, formerly of the New Freeport, PA died Saturday, January 25, 2014 in the Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
He was born January 11, 1931 at New Freeport, PA, a son of the late George Dewey Pierce and Huldah Kathern Warrick Pierce.
Mr. Pierce was retired from Marx Toys in Moundsville, WV. He was a United States Army veteran having served in the Korean War.
Surviving are two sons, Gary Pierce of Lafargeville, NY and Dewey Pierce of Texas; three daughters, Zelma Gorby of Fayetteville, WV, Delores Jean Griffith of Pennsacola, Florida; and DeEtta Pierce of Hundred; one brother, Russell Pierce of New Freeport, PA; three sisters, Lillie May Yoders of New Freeport, PA, Junie Johnson of New Freeport, PA, and Rosa Lee Trump of Cleveland, OH; sixteen grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great grandchildren.
Franklin was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Ethel Snyder Pierce, his second wife, Vickie Prendergast Pierce; two sisters, Mary DeBolt and Mildred Pierce; and five brothers, George Pierce, Francis Pierce, Charles Pierce, James Pierce, and Thomas Lee Pierce.
Friends may call at the Tennant Funeral Home in Hundred, WV from 2-4 & 7-9 PM Friday (1-31-2014). Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11:00 AM Saturday with the Evangelist Steve Stevens officiating.
