Garry Lee Cordray

Garry Lee Cordray, 71, of Core, WV died June 22, 2013 at Monongalia General Hospital. He was born in Morgantown on September 18, 1941. A son of the late Claude Cordray and Mabel King Cordray. Mr. Cordray attended the New Hope Christian Outreach Center in Everettville. He grew up building and working on cars and tractors. It was known that Garry and his father, Claude, had built a drilling rig by hand in the 60's. He enjoyed metal machining, collecting tools, and pocket knives. Garry often spoke of previous employers and co-workers such as Simpson Drilling and Owens Illinois. He was known to be a hard worker that took the time to teach his sons his interests. Surviving are two sons and spouse Bernard and Stephanie Cordray of Core, WV and Darryl Wayne Cordray of Core, WV; and two daughters Debbie and Bart Spearen of Morgantown, WV and Linda (Linnie) Francis and Kevin Miller of Morgantown, WV; seven grandchildren Ryan, Derek, Emily, and Breanna Cordray of Core, WV and Devin and Holly Cordray of Charleston, WV and Kristen and Jacob Spearen of Morgantown, WV; Four great-grandchildren Gweneth and Abigayle Cordray, Taryn Thompson, and Alex Flanders; one brother Warren and Marilyn Cordray of Santa Barbara, CA; and one sister Linda Brady of Flatwoods, WV. Friends and family may call at the Owen-Neely Funeral home in Blacksville from 7-9 PM Tuesday June, 25 and also on Wednesday from 11 AM until the time of the funeral service at 1 PM with Pastor Jacob and Mary Collins officiating. Interment will follow in the Olive Cemetery at Pentress.
