George W. (Bill) Johnson, Jr., aka, "The Candy Man", 82 of Jakes Run Road, Fairview, WV died Tuesday, February 1, 2011 in the Monongalia General Hospital in Morgantown surrounded by his family.

Bill was born October 5, 1928, a son of the late George W. Johnson and Pearl E. Jones Johnson.

Mr. Johnson was a retired coal miner. He worked at the Osage No. 3 mine for 45 years, retiring on June 20, 1991. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America, District #31 of Fairmont.

Surviving are one son & spouse, Larry and Donna Johnson of Farmington; five daughters and their spouses, Mary Johnson of Fairview, Linda and Robert Dye of Wadestown, Debbie and Doug Darrah of Fairview, Vicki and Doug Varner of Fairview, and Michelle and James Stewart of Burton; twelve grandchildren, Bobby & Shelly Dye, Larry Johnson Jr, Nancy & Michael Nudi, Dawn & Ira Ogden, Ryan & Chrystina Stewart, Jami Stewart, Jessica Dye, Cody Johnson, D.J. & Jennifer Darrah, Olivia & Martin Varner; three great-grandchildren, Britney Dye, Luigi and Amelia Nudi; four sisters and three brothers; a special little boy that he considered his grandchild, Jeddadiah; and his loving dog, Autumn.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Trader Johnson, who died on April 11, 2000, a daughter, Dottie Johnson, and three brothers, Robert Johnson, Jim Johnson, and Denzil Ray Johnson.

Friends will be received at the Owen-Neely Funeral Home in Blacksville, from 7-9 PM Thursday and from 2-4 & 7-9 PM Friday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11:00 AM Saturday with the Evangelist Mark Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the Olive Cemetery at Pentress.
