Glen Herndon "Greenbrier", 73, of Earnshaw Community, Metz, WV died Wednesday, October 28, 2009 in the Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
He was born January 1, 1936 at Charmco, WV a son of the late Wilson H. Herndon and Nellie Irene Adams Herndon.
Greenbrier was a retired coal miner. He retired from Consol's Loveridge mine in Fairview with 32 years of service. He was a United States Army Veteran. He loved blue grass music and coon hunting. He had the gift of gab and loved to talk. He attended the Rush Run United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Deanna Wildman Herndon; one son, Keith G. Herndon of Mannington; one daughter and son-in-law, Nancy Ann Powell and her husband Tracy of Mannington; one grandson, Matthew Powell; one half-brother, Wilmer Waugh of Fairmont; his first wife, Ruby Herndon of Mannington; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his second wife, Janice Herndon; two brothers, Bill Herndon and Frank Herndon; a half-brother, Archie Godfrey; and a half-sister, Arthea Godfrey.
Friends may call at the Tennant Funeral Home in Hundred from 7-9 PM Friday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11:00 AM Saturday with the Rev. Charlene Edwards officiating. Interment will follow in Mannington Memorial Park, Mannington, WV.
