Helene Joy Brown, 85, of Wadestown, died Sunday, November 6, 2011, at the home of her daughter.
She was born October 2, 1926 at Wadestown, a daughter of the late Edward Taylor and Iris Hostutler Taylor.
Joy was a retired accountant for Monongahela Power Company, a mother, a farmer, and a protestant by faith.
She loved bingo, sports of all kinds, and attending all of her grandchildren's sports activities and ball games.
Mrs. Brown was a 1944 graduate of Clay-Battelle High School.
Surviving are her children, Judy and Bill Spears of Wadestown, Donna and Peter Tennant of Morgantown, and Edward and Athalia Brown of Burton; grandchildren, Rachel and Mike Smith, Julie and Tom Luzader, April Spears, Heather Spears and fiance' Kenneth Statler, Heidi and Nick Long, Thad and Lauren Tennant, Jessica Tennant, Shawn, Christina, Jacob, Susan, Michelle, Kate, and Will Spears; great-grandchildren, Derek Hinkle, Shayne Hinkle, Tomi Luzader, Johnny D. Smith, Cheyenne Smith, Shaniah Tennant, and Kaleb Tennant.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Nolan W. Brown who died December 19, 1983; one brother, Guy E. Taylor; one sister, Kathryn R. Himelrick Dietz; and twin daughters who died as infants, Caralyn Joy and Sharon Ann Brown.
Friends may call at the Tennant Funeral Home in Hundred from 2-4 & 7-9 PM Tuesday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11:00 AM Wednesday with the Rev. Rose Saunders officiating. Interment will follow in the Wadestown Cemetery.
