Herbert “Hub” Mason, 98, of Fairmont, formerly of Hundred, died Monday, May 11, 2015 in Fairmont Regional Medical Center.
He was born February 27, 1917 at Wadestown, a son of the late Lewis A. Mason and Cora B. Haught Mason.
Mr. Mason was a retired heavy equipment operator who worked in the strip mining industry. He also has sang with the Key Letters Singers and the Gospel Echoes.
Hub was a member of the Coon’s Run Baptist Church near Fairmont.
Surviving is one daughter, Patricia Ann Jacobs of Waynesburg, PA; three grandchildren and their spouses, Robert and Cathy Holmes of Rivesville, WV, Greg Jacobs of Waynesburg, PA, and Melinda Taylor of Waynesburg; three great-grandchildren, Drew Holmes, David Holmes, and Megan Guthrie and her husband Stew; and two great-great-grandchildren, Halle Guthrie and Shelby Guthrie.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gladise “Petie” Mason who died on October 20, 2004 and four brothers, Orin Mason, Harry Mason, Stanley Mason, and Homer Mason.
Friends may call at the Tennant Funeral Home, 2678 Hornet Highway, Hundred, WV from 3-8 PM Thursday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11:00 AM Friday with Evangelist Steve Stevens officiating. Interment will follow in the Wadestown Cemetery, Wadestown, WV.
