Jean A. Russell, 75, of Wadestown, died on Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at her residence after a long illness.

She was born November 1, 1932 at Wadestown, WV, a daughter of the late Alva Arthur and Opal Mayfield Arthur.

Mrs. Russell retired in 1994 from the Monongalia County Board of Education as a cook. She worked at the Wadestown Elementary School until it closed and she worked at the Mason-Dixon Elementary School until she retired with 22 years of service. She was a lifetime member of the Wadestown PTA and served as President for many years. She served as both President and Vice-President of the Wadestown Community Association for over 17 years.

She was a member of the Bula Baptist Church.

Surviving are her husband of 55 years, Earl Russell, whom she married on January 16, 1953; two sons & spouses, Randy Russell and Tim & Lynn Russell, all of Wadestown; one daughter and spouse, Julie and Norman Hawkins of Fairmont; two brothers and sisters-in-law, George & Sue Arthur of Mannington and Bud and Evelyn Arthur of Monumental; two sisters and spouses, Patty Tennant of Fairview and Lorraine & Van Haines of Wadestown; a sister-in-law and spouse, Jean Arthur Myers and her husband Earl of Hagerstown, MD; four grandchildren & spouses, Benji & Deedee Tustin, Josh Tustin, Jennifer and Christopher Russell; one great-grandson, Gavin Tustin; one aunt, Marie Batson; and several cousins, nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Alva Arthur, Jr and one brother-in-law, Olen C. Tennant.

Friends may call at the Tennant Funeral Home in Hundred from 7-9 PM Friday and from 6-9 PM Saturday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 1:30 PM Sunday with the Rev. Samuel K. Hibbs, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Wadestown Cemetery.
