Jeanne Katherine Nolle, age 85 and a resident of Hundred, West Virginia, lost her courageous battle with cancer on Friday, November 23, 2007. She was born in Hundred on November 17, 1922 to the late Clarence and Edna (Clovis) Butcher.
Over a forty year period, her primary occupation involved Food Service Management in various organizations, businesses, and correctional facilities. Her employers included the Young Woman's Christian Association in Akron, Ohio; Blossom Hill School for Girls in Akron, Ohio; and the West Virginia State Penitentiary in Moundsville, West Virginia where she was the first female section chief. She also owned and operated Mountain Valley Inn in Georgetown, West Virginia.
She always had great empathy for young women and their concerns, and she derived some of her greatest satisfactions from helping them over the years. She also loved nature and had a long-standing concern about the social and economic problems arising from human overpopulation.
She is survived by her son, David Butcher Nolle of Hundred, her granddaughter, Tanya Lynette Stephenson and her husband, Ernie, and three great-grandchildren, Mikeala, Alexander, and Kaitlyn Stephenson, all of Hampstead, Maryland.
Her marriage to Thomas W. Nolle, Jr. ended in divorce.
After a private service, her ashes will be buried in a plot next to her parents in Todd Homestead Cemetery in Youngstown, Ohio.
The Tennant Funeral Home, PO Box 1200, Hundred, WV 26575 is in charge of arrangements.
